Carol Sader: A Community Advocate
“The League of Women Voters is a training ground for political life.”

Carol Sader became a member of the League of Women Voters in 1960. Since her arrival to Johnson County, she has set the standard for public and community service in Johnson County. Sader served as President in a Michigan League prior to her move to Johnson County in 1976. She joined the Johnson County League of Women Voters in 1976 and by 1979 was serving as the Chairperson of the “Give Me Five” campaign, which led to the increase of County Commissioners from three to five. Carol served as President of the LWVJC between 1983-1985. By November of 1984, the membership had grown to 259 persons, making the Johnson County League of Women Voters the largest local League in the state of Kansas. Another highlight during Carol’s presidency was the co-sponsorship, with the League of Women Voters of the United States and the other Kansas City metropolitan area Leagues, of the National Presidential Debate in Kansas City on October 21, 1984.
Among many of Carol’s accolades include multiple terms as Representative to the Kansas State Legislature (1987-1995, member and one time chair of the Board of Trustees for Johnson County Community College, and member of Women’s Public Service. Carol has been an active member of Beth Torah- a reformed Jewish synagogue in Johnson County and holds many awards for her contributions to the Jewish community.
