William Corbit

William Corbit was born in Ross county, Ohio, in 1818. In ’38 immigrated to Cass county, Indiana, and engaged in farming. In ’41 he was united by marriage to Miss. Runa Gibson, born in Highland County, O., August 18, 1821. In ’67 Mr. Corbit came to Johnson County, Kansas; purchased Geo. Sprague’s farm, (one of the first settled in the county,) adjoining the town of Spring Hill. A view of his residence will be seen on page 47 of this work. He is an industrious and thriving farmer, highly respected by all who know him. Mr. and Mrs. C. have had a family of six children—one son and two daughters now living. Their elder son, Henry, enlisted in the union army and fell a sacrifice to the cause of freedom in June, ’64.
