D. Gerner
D. Gerner was born in Germany in 1822, and came to the United States October 15th, ’52, and for two years lived in Attica, New York. In ’54 he lived in Missouri, and in ’55 came to Kansas. He was pressed into the service as a teamster for the Kickapoo Rangers when they first sacked Lawrence, in ’56. In ’57 he located in Lexington Township, this county. He is now living southwest of De Soto. In ’62 he married Miss Mary Smith. They have a family of one son and three daughters. He owns 40 acres of land, which he says is all he cares for, or requires to make a living upon.
